On June 16, 2017, President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed a policy directive named “National Security Presidential Memorandum on Strengthening the Policy of the United States Toward Cuba” and abrogated Presidential Policy Directive “Normalization of Relations between the United States and Cuba”, issued by President Obama on October 14, 2016.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba wishes to express its absolute support for the Statement of the Cuban revolutionary government issued upon learning of the new political position of the government of the United States toward our country. It reaffirms its continued commitment to the changes sovereignly made by the Cuban people and institutions to improve our economic and social system.

This new policy, ignoring the growing interest of the private sector of the United States in establishing mutually beneficial bilateral trade, will unfortunately affect the progress made over the past two years that favored many US companies and employees

The Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba hopes the business sector of the United States, its Chambers of Commerce and politicians committed to the best universal values can revoke such policies that prevent a positive change in the United States in favor of international understanding, economic growth and social progress.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba expresses its permanent willingness to continue working with its counterparts and US companies in facilitating the knowledge of business opportunities in Cuba, in the hope that companies of the United States will stop being hostages of an unfair policy, contrary to international law and rejected all over the world.
